Weekly Vibe #51

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Firstly I wanna apologise for not posting OOTW this week, it totally slipped out of mine as a work related crisis happened to me this week and hence I totally forgot about it.. My bad. :(

Hahaha I kinda wished I could just devote this blog as a career like probably what Jessica(fantasy stockings) is doing.

StockingsHQ staff contacted me this week asking me to review more of their products...I mean yes definitely!!! I'm not sure which products to go for and but might take a long time before I get the time to take photos and write a review.  Maybe you guys could write in and give me some suggestions as I have yet to give a reply to them! :(

And talking about StockingsHQ, they are having a free UK delivery service and half priced international delivery services till the end of October and just for this Halloween they are giving at least 10% off their fishnets! Click here now!

That's all I have for you this week! Have a great coming week ahead! :)

Special Focus: Cette Dublin Plus Size Opaque Tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Today we will be taking an in depth look into the Cette Dublin Plus Size Opaque Tights.

PantyhoseHQ has kindly sent me a pair of these for review, and I was really looking forward to trying these as they have very favourable reviews and recommendations for a men's first pair of tights to try on and they rightfully deserve so and you shall find out why in this review!

First look

At first look, these are really very luxurious feeling tights, taking them off from the packaging gives you the feeling that they are truly a luxury item! These were very nicely packaged. 60 denier with sheer to waist brief, sheer toes with and a cotton gusset.

Putting them on

PantyhoseHQ sent me an XL size for this, the length of the legs had ample space and boy sliding them up... it felt really nice as they just glided up to my legs and I noticed that it had a lot of stretch!

Feel and Look

These felt really really smooth and soft and also you could feel its durability, though it is mentioned to be matte, these actually give out quite a lot of shine(which you can see in the photo above) as compared to other matte tights I got. As your knees bend you could start seeing skin showing, about some 40% opacity. It's opacity is pretty accurate to what you see in the packaging picture, it's more of a semi opaque but leaning more to an opaque appearance.

Here is a style I came up with the Cette Dublin Plus Size Opaque Tights

T-Shirt: PUMA   Shorts: HUSH PUPPIES  Shoes: TOPMAN  Eyewear: H&M  Legwear: CETTE   Model & Photographer:  A. LUCIUS. KUNSTWERKE FABRIK

The following properties such as Comfort, Compression, Durability, Opacity, Shine & Price will be rated by numbers.

Comfort: 4 out of 5 points

Compression: 0 out of 5
points

Durability: 4 out of 5
points

Opacity: 3.5 out of 5
points

Shine: 3.5 out of 5
points

Price: 3 out of 5
points

Price US$19.02

Material Content: 94% Nylon, 6% Lycra & 1% Cotton

Sizes:

  •          XL = 5'1" - 5'9" Height 44-48in hips
  •          2XL = 5'1" - 5'9" Height 48-53in hips
  •          3XL = 5'3" - 5'9" Height 53-59 hips
  •          4XL = 5'3" - 5'9" Height 58 - 63 hips

Colours: Black, Ristretto & Chartreux

Pros: These are very comfortable, won't make you heat up too much as it's 60 denier, very smooth and glides up to your leg, very stretchy, decent price paying for tights of this quality and very good for men who want to try tights for the first time.

Cons: They are probably not the cheapest tights you will find around but come on hey these are good quality tights! If you're looking for something totally opaque these wouldn't work out for you.

To buy them go to this link! (As of now 23rd of October 2013 size 4XL is currently out of stock)

Conclusion:

These are really great tights, this is one of those that you know you should have in your wardrobe if you are a guy who wear tights and if you are wanting to try tights on, these are the ones that you should really really go for!

In Focus: Knittex 20 Den Smart Tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Today we will be taking an in depth look of a unique pair of tights by Knittex. As you all might have know that Knittex has graciously sent me 2 sample pairs of their men's collection of their hosiery products, one of which is this "Smart" 20 den tights and the "Sporty" 100 den Opaque Footless Tights, you can read the review of the latter in here (You might probably notice the package saying 30 den but actually in its physical form.. it has been corrected to 20 den)

The Smart tights was packaged in a very classy rectangular cardboard packaging with the tights wrapped around a card in a clear plastic envelope which I find it useful to store my tights. Packaging is style is identical to that of the Sporty Opaque Footless Tights.

At first I got very mixed feelings as I am not a big fan of sheers at all due to the fact that sheer tights typically do not last long. I was more meticulous at handling and putting them on, I usually would use gloved hands to put on my tights and these sheers were no exceptions because no one likes having snags in their tights right?

Putting them was quite a bit of an experience because I didn't want ruin them so soon, when I actually rolled them up all the way to my thigh I found out to my horror, the right inner thigh part of the tights had a very tiny snag mark and I wasn't too sure if I caused or not, but it wasn't so bad as that part of my legs wouldn't show.. But it didn't matter as I wore jeans because it was working day for me. They seem to glide very well up my legs and under long pants, it was actually quite easy to wear them provided that your legs are dry of course! I also noticed a matt shine to the tights. The boxer and socks were made of higher denier content, opacity looking like 80 denier.

I wore them for the entire work day at the gallery taking enquiries, I'm usually tasked to work in the studio as a photographer but specially for that week I was assigned to the gallery, so I thought I try the Smart tights under my jeans.

These tights are designed to be worn as undergarment as well which is something I really like about Knittex tights. They actually felt really comfortable and smooth, so much so that I forgot that they are actually still on! And well I have to say that though these don't cost a lot but in terms of comfort, they fall under the category of excellent hosiery brands. Not the sort you pick up from the drug store.

Double breasted jacket: H&M  Shorts: HUSH PUPPIES  Shoes: TOPMAN  Glasses: H&M  Legwear: KNITTEX   Bag: ZiNC   Model & Photographer:  A. LUCIUS. KUNSTWERKE FABRIK

Price: 16.54 Polish Zlotys which equates to about US$5.26 or GBP 3.45

Material content: Polyamide 88% & Elastane 12% with gusset

Sizes: 3, 4 & 5 M, L & XL

Colours: Black

Pros: Nice glide, comfortable, stays in place, good size ranges, inexpensive & unique.

Cons: Snag easily due to denier level, you can wear them for extended times only if you have taken very very good care of them & a lot more care is needed to handle them.

In conclusion I would like to describe these tights to be a little bit of an adventure for me, the adventure of putting them on and not ruining them so soon and the adventure of actually enjoying how they felt on my legs. I am rating these 2.5 out of 5 stars. If you are really into something unique and sheer or just something to wear under your mundane working attire in lieu of your socks.. try these! :)

Weekly Vibe #5

This week felt a little exhausting for me at work in the studio because I had to do more studio shoots, however what lightened me up the least was receiving the 2 pairs of Charnos 60 den Opaque tights! I tried the Chocolate coloured one and wow! The fit was awesome and it was so comfortable and smooth! Anyways as I was reading a post LAUF (Legwear as Unisex Fashion) titled "You Are Not So Smart" the topic was actually adapted from a book of the same name by David McRaney which dispels a number of myth on what people really think of you and it really helps men who are just starting to decide having legwear as part of their fashion inventory.

Here is a small excerpt from the post which you can read it all here

Chapter 29 (page 162)

The Spotlight Effect

You spill a drink at a party. You get a mustard stain on your shirt. Your forehead is breaking out on the day you have to do a presentation. Oh no. What will people think? Chances are, they won't think anything. Most people won't notice at all, and if they do, they'll probably disregard and forget your imperfections and faux pas within seconds.

You lose some weight, buy a new pair of pants, and strut through doors expecting some sort of acknowledgment. Perhaps you get a new haircut, or buy a new watch. You spend an extra fifteen minutes in front of the mirror expecting the world to notice. You spend so much time thinking about your own body, your own thoughts and behaviors, you begin to think other people must be noticing too. The research says they aren't, at least not nearly as much as you are.

When in a group or public setting, you think every little nuance of your behavior is under scrutiny by everyone else. The effect is even worse if you must stand on a stage or go out with someone for the first time. You can't help but be the center of your universe, and you find it difficult to gauge just how much other people are paying attention since you are paying attention to you all the time. When you start to imagine yourself in the audience, you believe every little misstep is amplified. You are not so smart when it comes to dealing with crowds because you are too egocentric, and they are just as convinced that they are being scrutinized.

Wow! What a revelation! What David says is really true! If only more men were more conscious about this! Anyways do look out for my coming reviews on the Charnos 60 denier Opaque tights! Have an awesome December!
