Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
As I was googling around I found a really interesting Flickriver page that belonged to Karl'sfriend and in it contained a treasure trove of very insightful photos of boys and men in legwear, and no, not the ones you will see from the renaissance but as late as recently and as way back as the early 1900s to 1940s and up to right now!
Here are some photos:
For more photos look here!
After seeing these photos, I'm sure anyone would be so convinced that the idea of males wearing tights isn't at all anything new, I mean some children regardless of gender in Russia wears tights for warmth. And the fact that it has been so throughout the times and no one really noticed until suddenly opaque tights became suddenly popular during 2008 for women and we all know suddenly every women started wearing opaques at work, and for fun. Well not to mention, with men started to "re-pick up" the trend again and worst still (in my opinion and not disrespecting Chan Kraemer) calling tights that are made for men "Mantyhose" made it look weird for us guys to wear them again. I mean why call them "Mantyhose"? Look at the 2nd photo, there were simply called Strumpfhose or Pantyhose in German. Whatever the case.. Just match your clothes right and wear your tights!

How do you behave/How do I behave with legwear
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
I'm sure some of you people out there wonder how did I achieve that level of boldness to wear legwear with short pants in the public. And so how to behave in public places for men who wears legwear with shorts?
Well to start off.. a little about my personality, I'm pretty much an artistic person and my day job is a photographer. And I believe very strongly in creativity, I portray myself to be unique individual, I enjoy to engage myself in conversations with people in my leisure time. I'm also considered to be a metrosexual man, in other words I enjoy shopping for clothes and look good outwardly. And so when I accessorise myself with hose, I will portray myself as being fashionably unique, not every men will or can wear hosiery, just like not all men will wear kilts. I would clothe myself in a way that the attention wouldn't be just on my legs, but on every single part of my body. So I would wear unique shirts, shades, style up my hair, nice shorts + hose and nice shoes(Matching them with the right colour is another story)
When I go out I would normally portray myself as walking down the runway like a model(of course without really swaggering like one...Hahaha!), walking confidently not being conscious of what I'm wearing on my legs, in fact if I do actually bother about people reactions, but in fact there aren't really much looks to my legs because my other clothing items have already "overpowered" the look of my legs. It's more of being yourself than being aware of people, just behave like how you normally would without hose.

Special Spotlight: Jessica Fantasystockings
Legwear Fashion For Men has successfully completed an interview with a hosiery blogger Jessica of Fantasy Stockings. Enjoy the read!
1) Can you provide the readers at Legwear Fashion For Men with some background information about yourself and your blog fantasystockings.com?
Sure, let me introduce myself. I currently live in Canada, in the beautiful city of Vancouver that is located on the coast of the Pacific ocean. When I was younger, I did some fashion modeling in Toronto. Those years past, but my interest in fashion remained.
I never thought I’d be a blogger. I was thinking of starting an online store 2 years ago and registered a domain name. I decided not to proceed with the idea at the time, but my domain name was already registered. That’s how I decided to put up some information there about my love for hosiery and little by little it turned into a hosiery blog.
2) There are many women out there that don't really like hosiery too much, what is it that makes you love hosiery?
I grew up with it. Since a very young age my mom would tell me to wear it with skirts and she would never get mad if my pantyhose would get ruined. She always had a full bag of spare pairs in different colours and that’s still the case today. To me it was a necessary garment to have, just like socks.
During my teen years I realized that it makes my legs look really nice, so I would always wear it if I would want to look pretty. A lot of times I would get compliments from both males and females about my look.
When I grew up, professional appearance became a priority. Even if a woman is on a tight budget, she could add a sleek pair of pantyhose to a simple outfit and look so much more sophisticated in an instant.
It feels nice to wear, makes me look good, and allows me to continue wearing my favourite skirts even in winter. What would I do without it? I can’t possibly imagine giving it up.
3) One could notice that you have a "boys" button in your blog categories and it opens up to many topics on unisex hosiery and the like, so what do you think about men such as myself who wear hosiery, and not just for health reasons but for a fashion statement (with shorts & shorter pants etc.)?
I haven’t met too many men who wear it for fashion reasons, but turns out that this trend was already in some runway shows. There isn’t any logical reason out there why tights should be for women only. In Eastern Europe up to this very day both boys and girls wear cotton pantyhose when they are little. But when they grow up, men for some reason switch to long johns that usually don’t look attractive at all.
4) Would you be in a relationship with a man who wears hosiery as part of his usual clothing style?
At this point I can only give a hypothetical answer because I passed my dating years a long time ago and back then I wasn’t aware of this trend at all. It probably would depend on how he wears it because I am only attracted to a professional masculine look.
My favourite look for men is a properly fitted business suit with a tie and fancy cuff links during the day. Somehow when a man I know puts on a good business suit, I just can’t stop looking because it makes them look so much better. For casual wear I like to see men in proper fitting dark jeans with a dress shirt or fitted muscle shirt and stylish business casual shoes. I am not a fan of anything that resembles sportswear.
However, most men who wear pantyhose do it because it is something that turns them on in a private sense. In this case, I’d be totally cool with that. If he enjoys the feeling of sheer pantyhose close to his body, I’d be delighted to help him choose the best hosiery out there.
5) How did you find about the Legwear Fashion For Men blog?
I guess that is where the link exchange really does its magic. I follow Hosiery For Men blog and I check out their suggested links. This is how I found you.
6) Are you able recommend any styles that you think men can adopt with hosiery?
Somehow I really like to look at Scottish men who wear traditional kilts. Whenever I see one, I turn around. Skin tone pantyhose under a kilt with traditional white knee socks over it not only would look good, but would make total sense in colder weather. Let’s say that if I would marry a traditional Scott, I wouldn’t let him go outdoors without pantyhose unless it’s summer.
7) Tell us one thing about yourself that you normally wouldn't say?
I am such a chicken when it comes to violence in movies, even though that I realize it’s just special effects... I can’t go to a movie theatre unless I am sitting next to someone with broad shoulders that I can hide behind during a scary scene.
8) Do you have comments to make about Legwear Fashion For Men?
There are some technical points like navigation and overall presentation of the material, but I’d rather not take up your reader’s time discussing this here.
In general I would like to thank you for your courage to promote a fashion trend that is not common and to do it in such an open manner. It may sound trivial, but I really admire the fact that you model your outfits yourself and you don’t crop your head out of the picture. It shows the reader that you are confident and sincere about this.
There is a belief that fashion repeats itself in cycles, so I do not doubt the possibility of men wearing ¾ pants and stockings would again be as common as it was in the regal times.
Thank you Jessica for taking the time to answer these questions, I hope that our readers at Legwear Fashion For Men Blog will enjoy reading this interview and your blog! We wish you all the best in your blog and your future endeavours and we will keep connected!

New Tights Order : November 2012
I recently placed an order on 2 pairs of tights from Tightsplease. Two of them are manufactured by Charnos.
Both of them are the Charnos 60 denier Opaque Tights:
I ordered a Chocolate and a Navy coloured at XL, I found these tights under the category of "For Men" and these are priced at US$9.61 or GBP 6.00 each. And I'm not too sure how the female sizes run for men. There have been good reviews on it and I would like to review them personally and with my own fashion twist!
Shipping globally costs at GBP 8.00
It is actually my first time ordering from Tightsplease, the last time I made contact with them was when I received the free pair of Aristoc 120 den Cotton Sheen tights which I have reviewed on September. I paid about SGD$39 in total for them and I'm absolutely looking forward to receiving them and trying them on! Stay tuned for the reviews and fashion styles for these tights!

Weekly Vibes #1
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
I'd thought I'd do a weekly update on what's going on for myself individually, for the past few days I have been communicating with Jessica from http://fantasystockings.com/ and do look out for a coming exclusive interview with her! Also I have been quite active on Lookbook and I have noticed that there are many people out there who are actually quite open with the idea of having tights as part of male accessory! Been having a handful of female Lookbookers fanning my page and along with female fashion designers fanning me and following Legwear Fashion For Men Blog!
Recently I have been looking around at LAUF and found that Urban Outfitters actually did use legwear for marketing 2 of their outerwear products!
The interesting part was that they actually weren't marketing the tights/leggings in the photos but in fact they were selling the tops! Hence giving the idea that one could actually style clothes with legwear!
Interestingly today as I was having a lunch chat with my female friend in a restaurant wearing one of my usual outfits the with Activskin A857 ribbed tights and shorts. I saw one of the female customer who was waiting to pay the bill pointing at my legs to her other female friend and I could somehow hear her say.. "See he is wearing stockings!" and the friend looked and didn't have much of a reaction. But the girl who spotted me.. her facial reaction was pretty intrigued than that of her friends. I didn't feel weird or anything, in fact deep inside of me I was laughing. I actually kinda enjoyed the attention I got.. however most importantly I felt that I have made an impact that it is fashionably possible for a guy to wear tights with shorts!
Today I bought a new pair of shoes from TOPMAN, bidding farewell to my brown TOPMAN shoes.
Hosiery wise, I'm actually not very sure on what's next to get, I'm looking at Fashion tattoo tights, however size seems to be quite of a concern to me. Any recommendations?

In Focus: A866 Thermofabric Full Support Tights with Fly
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
Here is my review on A866 Thermofabric Full Support Tights with Fly
I ordered this pair for myself and the A839 for my mum. At first look, I was kinda afraid that the tights would actually look like what it's on the picture shown above.. but thank God it was wrong! Well the fact is because I'm not the biggest fan of sheer hose.. but it is truly very opaque and what it shows on the picture is not at all accurate.. not as sheer as it is in real life! I ordered this pair specifically for running, but I suppose I would most likely be wearing them out anyways. I had a leggings kind of running tights but it wasn't sporting the compression I needed. Anyways as I pulled them up, it was kinda hard at first to put them on.. but it was kinda smooth as I slided them up my legs and also on the good side it was very stretchy, another good thing I realised was that these had the male fly, the fly seemed to have a lower denier content than throughout the parts of the hose(well I supposed no men wants it too warm down there either) I noticed that these lack a gusset.. well I'm pretty fine with gusset or sans gusset. It was very comfy when I got them on, adjustment was fine, I seem to prefer light support like the A857 than full support, due to the fact that it is easier to put them on.
The opacity coverage was pretty good, you would start to see stretch on the heels and the upper thighs, looking like 60 denier or so. These are more like 100 denier tights. I wore these out for a long jog and gosh did I get looks and some giggles. But meh I had the same looks when I was wearing my legging kind of running tights, besides.. I care for my legs and my fitness. Couldn't care what others think. I'm proud of what I wear!
Price: US$19.99
Material content: 80% nylon microfiber and 20% Lycra® spandex. No gusset.
Sizes offered: M to XL
Colours: Black
Pros: Stretchy, Smooth, Good opacity coverage. Male panel with Fly opening & Economical, Good compression catered for active men.
Cons: Not the easiest thing to put on.
http://www.glieberman.com/a866-thermofabric-full-support-tights-with-fly/
Overall I'm pretty pleased with the A866 Full SupportTights. I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
They also make very good replacement for work socks if you want to consider them for a change. However do be warned that it would most likely be suitable to wear them when the climate is slightly cooler.

2 Months in Tights and Shorts
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
I just realised that I have been wearing tights really often with shorts on my off days especially on sundays to church and my brothers and sisters in my church cellgroup has grown so accustomed to it and I don't feel weird at all wearing it with shorts, I believe it is really about matching your clothes tastefully to match your legwear. Like one of my church brothers who told me.. it really does take a lot of guts to wear out like that, a church sister also said that I have grown in my area of boldness in what I wear. And those were positive remarks that I take which strengthens my resolve! I have commented to them that I'm not mainly wearing it for health reasons but for fashion reasons and I am indeed starting a new trend. But seriously, not every guy would accept tights as a normal clothing item. Just like there are some women who do not wear hose at all.
I just hope this would encourage more men who wear them to wear them out openly!

Just Arrived : Activskin A866 & A839
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
I received the A866 & A839 tights from Activskin on Friday, delivery time was somewhat a few days slower. Which is okay for me..
As I have written before, the A839 is a gift to my mum so I won't be reviewing on them but I asked her to give me a review on them. As for the A866, I will most likely be using them for my outdoor jogs. I will give them a review when I can.

In Focus: ActivSkin A857 Thermofabric Ribbed Light Support Tights
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
Here is my review on ActivSkin A857 Thermofabric Ribbed Light Support Tights
At first look the Activskin ribbed tights look pretty small to fit my rather broad body, I was actually a little apprehensive about support hosiery as I didn't like putting them on due to the fact that it might be real hard to put them on... but when I pulled the first leg up, it felt really stretchy and really really smooth, soft and comfortable!! I wore out these with shorts to church and I had no negative comments! I had a church brother in my cellgroup that complimented me and said that it takes guts to wear them out like that. I suppose that's the perk of being in a contemporary church! Hahaha! Anyways, on the light support that the product says that it gives, I don't really feel my legs were gasping to breathe but my legs feel good for the entire time, not full of aches and pain by the end of the day. It isn't as sheer as it looks on the picture that Activskin provides, it is pretty opaque as you can see in the photos below. The ribbing isn't very obvious from far but only at closer inspection.
Price: US$15.99
Material content: 93% nylon microfiber and 7% Lycra® spandex
Sizes offered: M to XXL
Colours: Black
Pros: Soft, Stretchy, Smooth, Good opacity coverage, very stylish, keeps your legs comfortable by the end of the day & not too expensive.
Cons: No fly, but then again without the fly it made it cheaper, may/may not need to wear underpants when wearing them(the regular brief wasn't thick enough to protect from the rough slight brushes against the pants zippers.

Customisable Tights!
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
As I was googling for tattooed patterned tights, I found this online store based in Germany named FunnyLegs. Other than selling hosiery typicall for women, they also have section for men and plus size female ones for men. Funnylegs caught the idea that tights are unisex.. WOW! Most interestingly they also feature a "Design your own printed Leggings and Tights" they have 3 different styles of print, one being an "All-over Print", "Textbanner or Logo" and "Wordcloud" The tights are 70 den, 90% Polyamid and 10% Elasthane, prices start at €19.90 for sizes S to L and L/XL are €20.90
I might try customising my own tights someday!

In Focus: ActivSkin A894 Camouflage Tights
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
Here is my review on ActivSkin A894 Camouflage Tights:
At first look, it looks like what I would wear in the desert front..Hahaha! But looks absolutely awesome!!! As I started bunching them up to wear they feel really stretchy and soft, they feel really smooth against the skin as I pull them up the fit is fine, I started seeing some pattern stretch on my calves, which I believe is normal.. one thing I realised is that the patterns have seams on the sides which I think is the one thing I didn't really like. As I was adjusting my tights I saw a pretty weird stain or mark like as if some nail polish has spilled on it or something.. well good thing it was on my upper thigh area where my legs wouldn't be exposed.
The coverage was pretty good, it feels more like a sheer than an opaque hose. I really like the fly that it came with. One unique thing about Activskin tights is that you don't need to wear another undergarment like I normally would with other tights.
Price: US$24.99
Material content: 90% Nylon microfiber and 10% Lycra® spandex.
Sizes offered: M to XXL
Colours: Camouflage
Pros: Soft, Stretchy, Smooth, Good opacity coverage. Male panel with Fly opening & Stylish
Cons: Not the most economical, side seams(well I see it as a con as I prefer patterns without seams) & that weird nail polish stain(forgivable as it's on my upper thigh area)
http://www.glieberman.com/a894-thermofabric-camouflage-tights-with-fly-new/
Overall I'm pretty pleased with the A894 Camouflage Tights. I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
I wore out earlier today to do some shopping, I took the public transport, there was some looks but people don't really care.
This is actually my second time wearing tights out with shorts and I feel really good! I feel that as long as the outfit is right, it is really no problem wearing tights out with shorts at all, the war is really all in the head!

In Focus: ADRIAN Grating Tights
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
Here is my review on ADRIAN's Grating Tights:
I ordered this and the ADRIAN City Tights from Legwear4men back in last month. At first look it is pretty similar to the ADRIAN City Tights as they are both 60 denier. I got an L size for this one. At first look, its waistband looks like what you would find in a Calvin Klein boxer shorts. The first thing I did was to wash them and I hung them dry for the night. At first feel putting them on... it felt just a tiny bit tight which is pretty normal due to the Lycra content. After pulling them up. It feels pretty durable and it feels soft on my legs. The seams were flat and the Argyle pattern goes all the way up ending at the waistband. After wearing it awhile with shorts, these are sheer to waste with reinforced toes. The patterns were stitched on. I pretty almost forgot I had them on as I was out... until I moved my legs as I was standing in public transport. So far, I'm only getting a few looks, well the sort of looks where my legs are the daydreaming point. However after I got home and washed them, I noticed something...the patterns started showing signs of slight fraying. And I noticed that the fraying were only at my thighs where my shorts had coverage on, the patterns that were exposed didn't have any frays(probably caused by constant rubbing as I was walking) I suppose I would be paying more than £9.99 if the patterns weren't stitched on but printed...
Overall I would say I'm pretty pleased with the ADRIAN Grating Tights, I probably will order the other colour at a larger size.
Price: £9.99
Material content: 60 Denier Tights 85% Polyamide and 15% Lycra
Sizes offered: M to XL
Colours: Black/Grey and Navy/Denim
Pros: Soft, Good opacity coverage, economical for a European brand, good male comfort panel
Cons: Lacks stretchable qualities, Fraying of patterns due to abrasion with shorts

Just Arrived : ActivSkin A857 & A894
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
After about a week, my ActivSkin tights have arrived!
I will be doing a review on them in the days or weeks to come, I still do remember that I still got reviews to be done on the ADRIAN Grating Argyle tights. Meanwhile it's time for me to wash them first! Most importantlyI showed it to my dad and talked about the health benefits of wearing support tights! And he said that it would be good for wearing it in colder places! Wow! Now even acceptance from my DAD!
Thank you for reading!

Special Spotlight: Interview with Brain&Beast - Barcelona
Hi Creative and Fashionable people!
Legwear Fashion For Men has recently done an exclusive interview with Spanish Fashion label Brain & Beast from Barcelona. Enjoy the read!
1)Can you provide the readers at Legwear Fashion For Men with some background information about yourself, your label and your career as a Fashion designer? - I have studied fashion design at Madrid and London. After finishing my studies and working for different mainstream brands, I decided to start my own project. First I was established in Madrid but after 5 years I moved to Barcelona and I found Cesar and Veronica ... my partners in Brain&Beast. Since then, we show our collections in 080 Barcelona Fashion Week and at every six months we sell our clothes in Paris , we also have recently launched our ONLINE STORE, www.brainandbeast.bigcartel. com
4) In the recent years many designers such as Givenchy, Antonio Azzuolo, Prada, Miharayasuhiro, Agnès B. and also another Spanish designer Selim de Somavilla have been using tights/hosiery for their menswear collections, did their works influence you to feature hosiery or were you inspired by other factors? - We really admire all of them but someone´s work has never been part of our inspiration ... we try to follow our own concept and we think its part of a normal development in menswear fashion to take things from classic womenswear attitudes ...
5) Did you use any particular brand of hosiery for the Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012? - Thick ones! Winter is cold!
6) Has there been any positive feedback on your inclusion of adding hosiery as part your collection for male models? Also how did your male models react to putting them on? - They were behaving quite normal! It was not a handicap!
7) Tights were, of course, originally won by men. In recent years they are clearly to be coming popular again - for their comfort and practicality, as well as a fashion trend. Do you see this trend continuing and tights for men becoming more mainstream? - Straight guys could be more openminded but ... there is such a big social pressure about the right man ... u know ...
8) There has been a huge amount of media coverage of 'mantyhose' (tights and pantyhose for men) in recent months, with some brands, such as Emilio Cavallini, now marketing tights as unisex. Do you have any plans to create a line of men's or unisex tights? - We would love to....

2) What was your inspiration
behind the Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012? - The name was
MAGIC. Things that hide things, illusions, the main topic was "everything is
possible"!
3) In your Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012, I have noticed that with some of the male models, you have used tights as part of the style with shorts. As we all know that tights are usually worn by women, what motivated you to use tights as part of your designs? - It was part of the inspiration ... girls will be boys and boys can be girls, sometimes ,,, there is no border between masculine and feminine ... Lets try to pass old ideas about whats right in your wardrobe ,,, fell free!
