Closure of Legwear as Unisex Forum(LAUF)

Hi friends,

It is of a heavy heart for me to announce that as of late last week the Delphi forum, Legwear as Unisex Forum(LAUF) which got me one of the most support is gone. I do not know what happened to it but it was shut down recently a few days ago, however all is not lost, the logs and messages might be gone but not the people! Because now there is a new forum set up by readers and post authors like me and you that decided that it must go on and now Legwear as Unisex Forum lives on as Legwear For All(LFA)! Do check it out!

Weekly Vibe #192

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Welcome to Weekly Vibe #192 Happy Halloween! I hope you guys would have fun for Halloween! For me I won't be doing anything much :P Since I'm not much of a partying sort either!

Welcome to Weekly Vibe #189! Halloween is upon us soon! Though I'm not really preparing for that... unless I do get invited to some events I will be preparing something cool.. and likely Star Wars related.. Hahaha! A shoutout to Hosiery For Men, thanks for the feature on your blog on our new video channel! You can read it here! 

Nowadays we are having consumers that decided to take hosiery designs to their own hands and went indie and got themselves unique hosiery like Not so Tight tights, LM Glow tights and now enter Hipstik Tights!

How it all started? Here is what it was written in the About section.

"It all started with a pair of scissors. No, seriously! One day after work, while changing into PJs, my husband and co-founder, Jason, was baffled by the scissor cut down the front of my pantyhose. He said, “What happened there?” I said, “THEY’RE SO UNCOMFORTABLE, so I cut them in the bathroom at the office!” We had a good laugh and that pair ended up in the trash. And then I began the hunt for a comfortable pair. After years of trying on dozens of styles and brands, I had given up. The largest size was too small – the tug and pull (in front of your boss-oops!). The waist always too high – why is control top the only style available! What if I don’t want a control top at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday!

I knew there had to be better. That’s when I had the “light-bulb” moment. With our backgrounds in product development and marketing, we knew we could make this happen. I could bring women the tights they actually want to wear. Then, the real work started. Asking friends about their own experiences wearing hosiery. Finding a manufacturing partner. Samples. Conversations. Samples. Testing. It became a crusade for comfort in a product category that has never been comfortable. And here we are – Hipstiks are everything women have ever wanted in a pair. I totally dig at that quote there! I believe the problem of restrictive control top/waistband, rolling and saggy tights happen to everyone who wears tights regardless of any gender. The tights are sized differently not according to your usual S,M,L but according to anatomy because everyone is sized differently and hence it will fit accordingly with minimal chances of rolling waistbands and the silicone stick strip will make sure it the waistband would stick to your tummy preventing rolling on the waist area.

If anyone is in the loop of male pantyhose you would be pleased to know that the Polish hosiery company Adrian has a new product! Enter Adrian Roger!

Interesting use of colour here! Yellow and Black are always a great combination to outfits, the inner wear of the model are pretty conservative with black coloured top and bottoms, black opaque tights, interesting looking glasses and a nice yellow coat, he does spot really interesting looking shoes!

Thank you so much for responding to us at Legwear Fashion For Men via Instagram! I just checked out your website at www.tightso.com and it seems like you got a nice collection of legwear products there! And I would like to ask you a few questions!


1)Can you provide the readers at Legwear Fashion For Men with some background information about yourself and tightso (You can introduce who you are as well)
   
I'd like to thank you for the interview on behalf of all Tightso staff :) My name is Eileen, I'm the founder of Tightso. We started originally as SecondSkin-Shop in 2008 and then shorten our name to Tightso in 2010 which simply means Tights Online. Our physical stores are located in both Ottawa/Canada and Ankara/Turkey. Following 2010 we started our online hosiery department and shipping fine and rare hosiery worldwide ever since. Our journey began as really small with just two women and progressed to what it is today 10 passionate women still enjoying and learning the world of hosiery.

2) What was the inspiration to start Tightso?

After graduating at a college in Montreal I've decided that I'm not up to an 8 to 4 job. First I 
have to try to run my own business which I've said to myself and I'm glad I did. I have worked in many malls and shopping centers I don't know why but preferably in hosiery departments. Maybe because my first Summer job in high school was a counter assistant in a local cosmetics and hosiery shop :) So I've learned quite a few things about hosiery and probably decided to put it in use :) 

3) Oh wow! You got businesses in 2 countries! We noticed that you have interesting ideas like giving away free tights and we know it's something quite out of the box! We are curious, what makes Tightso unique from other online hosiery retailers?

Out of many I think, we try to maintain good relations with our customers. We always keep in touch. We have customers that we ship tights even before they place an order.We just think they might like them and if they do they will make the payment.We are a bizarre online business :)

4) What are the general demographics of your customers so far? Eg. Adult women, young women or men? 

With all the crazy and fun designs I'd say young women and men. Adult women (50+) unfortunately more comfortable shopping locally. We have quite a large number of men customer as well. They mostly go for our classic tights and we try to help them as much as we can regarding sizing and colour.

5) What brands do Tightso currently carry? Are there any favourites for you personally too?

We have two lines of products. The ones we sell online and the ones in our stores.We sell the rare and hard to find ones online.  We carry Gatta, Day Mod, Penti, Oroblu, Fiore, Golden Lady, Italiana, Pierre Cardin, Mujde and etc.

We have also been working on our own brand called Nelson.We have only one product for now; 40 Den opaques and they are part of our "Back to school" promotion that we run every Fall. As for favorites, I love all. Each brand we carry have a unique wow factor of their own. But if I had to choose one I'd say Penti because they have variety .Every year we get a few new designs from hosiery companies via our suppliers but Penti send us a whole new product line with tons of new designs and colors directly nonstop. They're a real dynamo!

6)Wow! It's nice to know they are many kinds of customers you have! We will also surely look out for your own brand Nelson! Any idea when will you be releasing them?

Nelson brand is available since last year. For now only in black color and three sizes but will be expanded up to XXL and more color options in near future.We have also been working on a sheer model which will come in a number of colors and sizes to choose from.

7)For years there has been a recent hype on men's hosiery or "Mantyhose" top hosiery fashion designer like Emilio Cavallini caught up with it and created a few lines of tights for men, what do you think of hosiery as a fashion or as an everyday apparel for men? 

I think it's great to see men realising that tights are not just for women and can be for men also. I'm quite familiar to the trend. Even when I worked as a counter assistant in the 80s we had many male customers even though we carried only for women items.

I was always impressed by how knowledgeable they were when it comes to hosiery even more than us women. Today about 50% of our business is with men and it's a great number and says a lot. Not surprisingly we interact more with men everyday through emails and social media and it says a lot.

8)What are your plans for your foreseeable future?

Keep doing what we're doing. Everyone has a goal to reach in his/her life. I love my job and I intend to do it for a long time.

This is one sharp look! Some of the peeps tell me that some of the outfits I have suggested aren't suitable as they wished they were 2 decades younger but I present you to you this! I really like his sweater, nice black leather accents and striped patterns at the ends, sharp looking grey high collared sweater, black knee length shorts, black leggings and black worn out style leather boots. This one is for you veterans in life! :)

This outfit was designed by Cy Choi and featured in Cy Choi SS 15, at first glance one can see the interesting use of using orange as to stand out from the outfit, an orange armband, orange leg stripes on the shorts, white jacket, white sweater pull over with a greyscale pattern and a white shirt as base layer, coupled with black opaques tights(apparently footed) and black sneakers. Other minor details are the piercings and his finger accessory. In fact if you actually looked into Cy Choi's SS 15 collection you'd find 90% of his outfits had models wearing black tights and the outfits are amazing cool too! I really like what Cy Choi has and it's quite in line with what I usually do myself.

This outfit was featured by Perry Ellis' New York Spring Summer 2016 

Nice to see that in the US, Fashion designers are pulling this look too not just in Asia and Europe! For starters I really like the knitwear, well I've always liked the look of knitwear but it's kinda hard to wear them here in Singapore as it's just way too warm for it. The cream coloured shorts are decent, the loose fitting black leggings gave it a somewhat casual feel and the lace up leather shoes are pretty spiffy too. Overall this outfit is on the smart casual meter making it suitable for a normal chilly day. Thumbs up for this! What do you think?

Recently I found out that another male legwear blogger is online! Well how I found out was that Tights For Men actually followed us on our Twitter account! If you haven't read his blog, check it out! Our friend Hosiery For Men has recently interviewed him, do check it out if you haven't! Hmm perhaps I should try the Aristoc The Ultimate Leg Luxury 80..

I recently ordered a really interesting pair of shoes from Taobao! And they are LED shoes!!

Weekly Vibe #153

Welcome to Weekly Vibe #153! Sorry the really late post, as you might have read on my Twitter post, I spent most of the Monday queuing at Shaw House for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere tickets! I get to watch them on the 17th of December! More than 12 hours earlier than US! WOOHOO! 

But the coolest part isn't all just that! There were journalists that interviewed me and my fellow lightsaberists and we were featured on the local newspaper! Check it out!

I'm at the right side, half of face covered though.. LOL

You could read what's written there "Mr Andreas Loh, 27, joined the queue at 1:15pm and Mr Alexander Choong, 24, at 2pm. They both had their lightsabers. "Every Sunday, we join The Saber Authority where we attend Combat Saber training programmes," said Mr Loh. "We use real fighting techniques but with lightsabers as our weapons." He also said he and his friends were planning to dress up as Star Wars characters for the premiere. He plans to go as a Sith Lord."

I'm 90% done with preparing for my Sith Lord impression for the big day! I was planning on wearing the Silky leather look leggings under my legwraps or black maxi skirt if you like... Hahaha! which UK Tights sent to me previously!

Nice outfit by done by a fashion designer whom I got no idea did this.. :( but hey it is still great inspiration! From what I can deconstruct is that wearing a striped shirt with a dark blue or black vest with white outlines and with a semi blazer sweater outerwear with same white outlines with possibly a black scarf, capri length pants, striped tights/striped over knee socks with black leather shoes. 

I like this look altogether, it's pretty nice looks very reminiscent of the 18th century men's fashion style. I believe this is a great look that many guys can pull off! If Singapore isn't like summer all year round, I'd totally do this! Would you? What do you think?

Welcome to Weekly Vibe #148! Alas the haze is gradually dissipating but still there! I managed to do some upcoming Street Legwear Fashion post photos! I was so looking forward to do them after so long!(And really long overdue!)


With October being here that also means Halloween is coming and as we all know hosiery is going to be so widely used as an accessory in various costumes! I could think up of so many!

Well sadly I'm not really a Halloween person however I still do like to dress up in different costumes!
